Unearth

dance
14—15.10.2023

In Unearth, we slowly embark on a long journey that stretches and plays with the elasticity of time: links are woven and undone, emotions come to the surface and move across worried or ecstatic faces because, more than anything, this is a human epic.

Little by little, the performers gradually weave the wires of an invisible network around us to the sound of polyphonic chants, whispered melodies and pop refrains that turn into shared maxims. Their inner worlds resound outside, their singularities take shape, their dances are guided by a search for contact, palpable presences and touch.

It is an invitation to experience this moment like being in a gentle trance, an experiment that probes connections that go beyond us, drawing from the resources buried in each and every one of us.

• Jefta van Dinther is a Swedish-German choreographer and dancer. His work is characterized by a rigorous physical approach and always implies a staged research of movement itself. The moving body is the core of his practice but belongs to and interacts with a body of light, sound and materials. Central in his work is the question of what it means to be human, examined through its relation to society, community and environment but also to other forms of life such as animals and other non-human entities.

Jefta's performances reach out into metaphysical or otherworldly realms and deal with notions of illusion, the visible and the invisible, synaesthesia, darkness, labour, sex, the uncanny, affect, voice and image. In 2015 we presented his creation Plateau Effect, together with the Cullberg Ballet at Kaaitheater.
